What is the HiLux GVM Upgrade?
The new Toyota GVM upgrade option is designed to help customers safely carry more without compromising reliability, safety systems or warranty.
When fitted from the factory, the upgrade:
- Increases payload by 372–435kg (depending on variant)
- Allows for a maximum payload of up to approximately 1525kg (depending on variant)
- Is priced from $4,000 (factory‑fitted option)
- Retains the full Toyota five‑year warranty
- Is fully compatible with all HiLux safety systems
For customers who depend on their vehicle day‑in, day‑out, this means more usable capacity with Toyota‑backed peace of mind.
Built for Real Australian Conditions
Unlike many aftermarket solutions, this GVM upgrade has been developed locally by Toyota Australia, specifically for Australian conditions and customer needs.
Along with the payload increase, the upgrade includes:
- Up to 10mm increase in ride height
- Longer rear monotube shock absorbers
- Front axle capacity increased by 100kg
- Rear axle capacity increased by 280kg
The result is a HiLux that’s better equipped to handle heavier loads while maintaining ride comfort and stability.

- SR Double‑Cab Pick‑Up
- SR5 Double‑Cab Pick‑Up
(All applicable grades are automatic and 4x4.)
These variants are powered by Toyota’s proven 2.8‑litre turbo‑diesel engine, producing 150kW and 500Nm, with SR and SR5 double‑cab models also featuring 48‑volt V‑Active technology.
